Andy Blake was one of the wild-eyed kids in London that got bitten by the acid house and Balearic bug in 1988. Having discovered house music and nightclubs a few years previously, Andy went hook, line and sinker for the enormous range of music that characterised the original and only true definition of the Balearic beat and it was this that propelled him into becoming a DJ, as well as influencing his wide-ranging style.

Andy has been playing all kinds of gigs in Europe and the UK since the late 80's and running a number of his own underground record labels since the late 90's. But it was due to his most recent label venture, the limited edition vinyl-only label, Dissident, that he really shot to prominence. The under-the-counter nature of the label and quality of the releases on Dissident quickly earned Andy a label of the month feature on Resident Advisor.

Some notable artists started out with their releases on Dissident including Cage & Aviary, Gatto Fritto, Hardton, Photonz, Binary Chaffinch and Den Haan to name a few. Very soon Andy was playing all over the world, including dates at high profile clubs and parties like Panorama Bar, Fabric, the legendary NYC Downlow at Glastonbury, Sao Paulo's newest club Hot Hot, Horse Meat Disco and literally hundreds of underground nights in the UK and Europe over the last couple of years.

After over 60 releases in just over 2 years, Andy brought Dissident to an end in late 2009, just as he started his new project World Unknown, a mysterious club night dedicated to the visionary leftfield sounds of industrial funk, new beat and heavy balearic.

There will be a World Unknown record label very soon but for now his only label project is 'Cave Paintings', an imprint dedicated to Andy's own pure analogue house and techno explorations. His first release is out now and already receiving high praise and plays from some of the world's best djs. He also has tracks and remixes coming out on a number of UK and European labels over the coming months

Andy Blake has a knack for playing all kinds of music with that all important essence that moves dancefloors and making it always make perfect sense. He has a phenomenal and ever-expanding record collection spanning well over 35 years of amazing dance music and he only ever plays original press vinyl 12"s and 7"s, never any wavs, or mp3s, cds or laptops.

He is in his element in a big room playing all kinds of house and techno, just as much as he is showcasing his versatility, great taste in music and wonderful record collection playing all manner of disco, funk, reggae & dub, or post-punk and industrial-based World Unknown style sets.

A real DJs DJ then, but also one with the ability to consistently translate his passion for music into deliriously happy dancing, sweating and cheering dancefloors night after night.
